Don't Force It When the Jig Wedges

The instinct when a jig stops moving is to pull harder. On rock, that's often the wrong move. Slow Drag

A slow drag — maintaining light contact with the bottom while moving the rod tip and reeling up slack — is the most common and often most controlled way to cover hard bottom. Overlooking suspended bass. Not every bass around rocky structure is on the bottom. Bluff banks in particular can hold suspended fish. If you're only dragging the bottom and not getting bit, consider whether the fish are positioned above you.

Assuming weedguards prevent rock snags. They don't. The weedguard protects the hook point — not the jig head. Manage wedging through technique, not through the weedguard.
