The Danco 14.5-Inch Pistol-Grip Fish Dehooker helps anglers remove hooks while keeping their hands farther away from sharp teeth, spines and exposed hook points. Its extended stainless-steel shaft reaches into a fish’s mouth while the small hook-capture tip provides controlled access to the hook.

Two spring-loaded pistol grips create a comfortable operating angle and allow the angler to secure and rotate the hook without placing a hand near the fish’s mouth. Non-slip ergonomic grips provide dependable control around wet hands, while the included safety lanyard helps prevent the tool from being dropped overboard.

The 14.5-inch reach is well suited for small and medium freshwater or saltwater fish. Potential applications include bass, walleye, catfish, snapper, bluefish and other species where additional distance from teeth, spines or hooks improves handling safety.

How to Use

  1. Maintain control of the fish and keep it close to the water.
  1. Guide the dehooker tip down the fishing line or leader until it reaches the hook.
  1. Position the hook-capture tip around the hook.
  1. Squeeze the pistol grips to secure the hook.
  1. Rotate and back the hook out along its original entry path.
  1. Release the fish promptly after the hook has been removed.

Fish-Care Note: Never force a deeply embedded hook. If removing it would cause excessive injury—especially around the gills, throat or internal tissue—cut the line or leader as close to the hook as practical.

Care Note: Rinse the tool with fresh water after saltwater use, dry it thoroughly and periodically apply a light lubricant to the moving mechanism.
