Best Way to Rig

Thread a stopper onto your main line before adding the bullet weight. Tie on an appropriately sized worm or flipping hook, rig your soft plastic, then slide the stopper toward the weight to keep it close to the bait. Adjust the stopper's position if you want a small amount of weight movement instead of a fully pegged setup.

Techniques & Presentation

Texas rig fishing: Peg the bullet weight when working brush, grass, or wood where a separated weight could hang up. Flipping and pitching: Keep the weight and bait moving together when placing a soft plastic into tight cover. Punching: Use the stopper to help keep a heavier punching weight against your bait as it passes through matted vegetation.

On-the-Water Tips

Check the stopper for wear after repeated casts or contact with heavy cover. Avoid forcing it over damaged line, and retie if the line shows abrasion. Choose hook and sinker sizes for the bait and cover rather than assuming one rig works everywhere.
